A Level English Literature: Component 3 Section A Unseen Poetry and the Forward Poems of the Decade
25 March 2026 at 16:00-18:00 GMT
This professional development training is designed for teachers of Pearson Edexcel International A Level Biology. Delivered by Jonathan Wong, Pearson Edexcel International Subject Partner for Sciences, the session focuses on understanding assessment structure, analysing examination performance, and using examiner feedback and student data to inform effective teaching.
Teachers will explore how assessment objectives are reflected in examination questions, review recent exam papers and examiner reports (including insights from the Summer 2025 series), and identify key trends in candidate performance. The training supports delegates in using this evidence to adapt teaching strategies and plan more targeted instruction to improve student outcomes, while also providing opportunities to share best practice with peers.
By the end of this training, delegates will be able to:
- Understand the role and purpose of assessment objectives in International A Level Sciences and how they are used to construct examination papers.
- Analyse recent examination questions and papers to identify how different assessment objectives are assessed.
- Interpret student performance data and examiner report feedback to identify key strengths, weaknesses, and trends in candidate performance, including insights from the Summer 2025 exam series.
- Use annotated exemplars and examiner commentary to deepen understanding of how students respond to assessment demands and where marks are commonly gained or lost.
- Apply data-informed and assessment-aware strategies to adapt teaching, planning, and curriculum delivery to better support student performance.
- Develop targeted teaching approaches to help students access and succeed on questions across a range of assessment objectives.
- Share best practice, discuss challenges, and collaborate with other teachers to enhance teaching and learning in International Science qualifications.
This training counts as 5 hours of CPD. An e-certificate will be sent to you post the event.
Registrations will close 1 week before the event date, please ensure you have signed up before this deadline to secure your place.
