This series of standalone modules provide practical advice, resources and the modelling of teaching strategies to enable you to teach secondary mathematics with confidence. It is aimed at anyone who is an Early Career Maths Teacher, whether an NQT, a returning teacher or someone converting to the teaching of maths from another subject. It is also useful for those new teachers who were unable to complete their courses or schools placements due to the recent school closures.
Each session is 90 mins and £40 each. You can pick ’n’ mix the modules that are right for you.
The session are led by maths teaching expert Pietro Tozzi. Within each session you will be given the chance to interact with Pietro and ask questions. You will also receive a bank of resources to support your teaching and learning.
Session 1 - How to establish good practice and clear expectations (90 mins)
Session 2 - Behaviour management (90 mins) The focus of this session will be on maths, but the structure will apply to any subject
Session 3 - Problem solving - including bar models (90 mins)
Session 4 - Understanding the assessment objectives with teaching and learning ideas for hard topics (90 mins)
Session 5 - Understanding and using data in the short and long term, and how to use this data for intervention strategies (90 mins) The focus of this session will be on maths, but the structure will apply to any subject
Session 6 - Exceptional teaching and learning ideas and exemplar lessons (90 mins)
Session 7 - Differentiation in the classroom (90 mins)
Session 8 - Being observed as an Early Career Teacher: criteria, expectations & process (90 mins) The focus of this session will be on maths, but the structure will apply to any subject
Each session can count as 1.5 hours of CPD.
