This online course is from the Pearson Teacher Education and Learning Academy. It is a series of three modules (Turning Inward, Turning
Outward, Turning to Action) designed to help educators to engage a range of anti-bias, multicultural and social justice issues and provide them with strategies and tools to help their learners understand, appreciate, include, and advocate for those around them.
Turning Inward: This takes teachers on an authentic exploration and reflection of their own background and experience with diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). We cannot help others until we have taken this journey ourselves.
Turning Outward: This gives teachers the tools and actionable steps needed to implement DEI practices in the classroom and make them sustainable. This course can be smoothly implemented through easy-to-follow activities and ideas. It gives teachers the confidence to have crucial conversations, with scenarios and examples of how to handle DEI moments when they come up.
Turning to Action: This supports teachers and students to understand where and how they can get involved and impact their environment through allyship and activism.
