Fusion Fundamentals CAD Training
07 July 2025 at 09:30-15:30 BST
Fusion Fundamentals is an intensive one-day course designed specifically for educators, facilitated by experienced instructors from CADclass.org. This 'teach the teacher' workshop equips you with both technical CAD skills and effective teaching strategies to deliver your Design and Technology curriculum.
Why CAD Matters in Education
CAD proficiency serves as a crucial 'unlock' for learners studying Design & Technology, enabling them to transform conceptual ideas into precise technical designs while expanding their creative possibilities. Autodesk Fusion is an industry-standard design platform that is completely free for educational use, making it an essential tool for preparing students for future careers.
What You'll Learn
In this hands-on workshop, you'll master foundational CAD principles through engaging projects—from donuts to rockets—that you can immediately implement in your classroom. The curriculum includes:
• 2D Sketching: Creating, constraining, and dimensioning sketches
• 3D Modeling: Techniques including extrude, revolve, and sweep operations
• Model Refinement: Applying fillets, chamfers, splits, and appearances
• Assembly Creation: Combining components into moving designs
• Documentation: Producing technical drawings, animations, and renderings
• Manufacturing Preparation: Exporting 2D files for laser cutting and 3D files for printing/CNC
Beyond Technical Skills
This course goes beyond software training. You'll gain valuable insights from experienced D&T teachers on how to plan, teach, and assess inspiring CAD lessons that engage students. Representatives from Pearson will also discuss requirements and opportunities for incorporating CAD into Non-Examined Assessment (NEA) components.
What You'll Receive
• Official Certificate of Completion from Autodesk
• Comprehensive digital workbook for ongoing reference
• Complimentary access to asynchronous video courses for continued learning
• Framework for implementing CAD instruction in your curriculum
Registration will close 1 week before the event date.
Lunch will be provided at this event.
