This free online training, delivered by our subject specialists Christian Seager and Mel Muldowney from JustMaths and Naomi Bartholomew-Millar, supports teachers delivering Pearson Edexcel GCSE Maths. The training will cover Chris, Mel and Naomi's experience around making tiering decisions and what they use to make those decisions.

You will:

• hear short- and long-term strategies on tiering decisions
• have the opportunity to pre-submit questions which will help shape the session
• be shown Pearson resources that are available to support in these decisions.

About the trainers
Christian Seager is a passionate and experienced maths educator, being Head of Maths at the ‘Most Improved State Secondary School in England’ on two separate occasions at two different schools (2012 and 2025). He has led a TES Maths Team of the Year, a testament to his innovative and impactful teaching strategies. In addition to the day job, Christian is a co-founder of JustMaths, a platform dedicated to supporting GCSE Maths teaching and learning. Christian continues to inspire maths teachers across the UK through JustMaths, combining classroom insight with practical resources that truly make a difference.

Mel Muldowney is a passionate and award-winning secondary maths teacher, co-founder of JustMaths, and a prolific blogger known for her candid and inspiring reflections on teaching. After changing careers to enter education, Mel committed to working in schools facing challenging circumstances. Her leadership and innovative approach transformed one such school into the “Most Improved School” in England, and she later co-led a TES Maths Team of the Year. She is widely respected for her practical strategies in preparing students for the demands of the GCSE Maths curriculum. Her work both in the classroom and through JustMaths, has had a lasting impact on maths education in the UK.
Naomi Bartholomew-Millar is a Head of Faculty in a Northeast school and former Assistant Head who also led a successful sixth form. She has led DfE-funded school improvement projects across the region, working with senior leaders and classroom teachers. Naomi also works nationally through educational organisations, supporting policy development and best practice initiatives. She has authored revision materials for publishers and is passionate about helping students achieve their potential, whatever their barriers.
