Strengthening Understanding and Intervention Individual Delegate Course
Thursday 12th February 2026, 15:45 - 16:45
This 1-hour course is invaluable for any teacher who wants to develop their knowledge and skills of strengthening understanding of mathematics and the use of interventions in their classroom.
In this course, teachers will learn what strengthening understanding really means, and find out about the many different strengthening understanding and intervention ideas and resources available to you in the Power Maths Teacher Guide. Furthermore, teachers will consider the numerous intervention strategies available to them, including that of giving ‘effective’ feedback to pupils. Hence, they will consider what ‘effective’ feedback really looks like. And, of course, teachers will work at identifying those children who may benefit most from being offered opportunities for strengthening understanding and intervention.
Towards the end of the hour, having built their confidence, teachers will be encouraged to consider how they might incorporate intervention for strengthening understanding into their teaching. Then finally, there will be time for them to consider three key things to try in a lesson, back in their classroom, encouraging them to recall and consolidate what they have learnt about strengthening understanding and intervention during this session.
